But it doesn't end there. True value means looking beyond the here and now, aiming at doing good in the long term and working towards true sustainability. True value goes outside and beyond the customer’s wallet: value for the environment, our society and for future generations. A constant supply of goods is taken for granted. Disruptions of trade are unacceptable. Society depends on efficient road transport and sustainable transport solutions. Every single cog in this machinery matters. Such as the choice of trucks. The truck brand makes a difference. Then, not only the performance, but also the visions and ambitions of the brand become important. More and more, brands are expected to offer real value. Today, people demand good behavior from the brands they select. No more shortsighted get-rich-quick schemes. No more turning the blind eye to pollution. No further acceptance of over-exploitation, arrogance and greed. A new generation of world citizens affiliate with brands on grounds of identification, of personal trust and shared values. Brands are selected for their ethics and integrity. At Volvo Trucks, we aspire to live up to the highest standards, to offer nothing but true value. For the Volvo Trucks brand, true value means taking our carbon footprint seriously, pioneering the development of alternative fuels and active emission reductions. It means taking responsibility for the product after its operational lifecycle: Volvo components are coded for disassembly and re-use, recycling and recovery. In fact, 90% of a Volvo truck can be recycled.

As a company we are committed to operations and manufacturing processes without depletion of the world’s resources. Volvo’s commitment to traffic safety is true value to society at large. Each year the Volvo Trucks Brand Management presents a theme that deserves extra attention and focus throughout the whole year. A theme that addresses issues that we believe are important not only for the Volvo Trucks brand but also for our customers and society in general. This year’s theme is TRUE VALUE and it is dramatized in twelve images and stories, one for each month. On this website you can learn more about True Value.

A new star is born

Opening night and the air is full of thrill and suspense. The whispering crowd falls silent as the newest cast member, the brand new Volvo FH16, takes the stage and is met by a standing ovation. Culture is the lifeblood of civilization. But lifeblood needs to be transported through its hosting body, to keep it vital and set to energize and infuse with life. In Volvo’s hometown of Gothenburg, Volvo Trucks has been a proud sponsor of the Gothenburg Opera ever since the inauguration in 1994. And on this stage, among opera, musicals, and recitals, the latest addition to the Volvo Trucks family plays an essential part providing logistics support and adding value to all that makes life worth living.
